Family escapes St. Paul house fire

A family safely escaped an early-morning fire at their St. Paul home, according to St. Paul Deputy Fire Chief Stan Jadwinski.

Around 4:08 a.m., firefighters were called to a home at 1317 Juno Ave. in the Highland Park neighborhood. Fire was coming out of a second-floor bedroom window, Jadwinski said.

"There was a lot of fire up there," he said. "It's very fortunate that the family got out."

The family that lived in the home got out themselves before crews arrived, Jadwinski said. The family's pets, too, got out safely.

Paramedics evaluated the family at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but investigators do not suspect arson, Jadwinski says, because of the time of the fire and the fact that the house was occupied.
