Storms cause widespread power outages in Williamson, Davidson


A wave of severe weather moved through Nashville Friday leaving downed trees and widespread power outages in its wake.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. reported more than 3,000 customers were in the dark after storms passed through Williamson County.

The outages were in Franklin and Cool Springs. A spokesman said crews were working to restore power in the area.

As of 8:30 p.m., about 2,500 Nashville Electric Service customers were also without power. Earlier in the day, that number topped out at over 12,000.

The Metro Office of Emergency Management reported minor damage from high winds as the first line of storms moved through Nashville at about 10 a.m.
There were no reported injuries.
